What a 5-page business website should cost in India
The real cost of a 5-page business website in India — page by page, what each should contain, and what freelancers, agencies and subscriptions charge for exactly this.
Five pages is the right size for most local businesses in India — enough to answer every question a customer has, small enough to stay accurate. Here is what each page is for, and what the whole thing should cost.
The five pages, and what each one does
| Page | Its job | What it must contain |
|---|---|---|
| Home | Convince in ten seconds | What you do, where, why you, phone number |
| Services | Answer "do you do X?" | Each service, ideally with a starting price |
| About | Build trust | Years in business, who you are, real photo |
| Gallery / Work | Prove it | Photos of actual work, not generic stock |
| Contact | Make it effortless | Phone, WhatsApp, address, map, hours |
What it should cost
| Who builds it | Price | Included |
|---|---|---|
| Marketplace freelancer | ₹5,000–12,000 | Template + your content pasted in |
| Experienced freelancer | ₹12,000–25,000 | Proper design, mobile-tested, some revisions |
| Agency | ₹40,000–80,000 | Design, content help, SEO setup, accountability |
| Subscription | from ₹999/month | All of the above plus hosting and ongoing changes |
If a quote for five straightforward pages is above ₹80,000, ask specifically what justifies it. Sometimes there is a good answer — custom functionality, serious SEO work, content writing and photography. Sometimes there is not.
The page most businesses get wrong
Services. It is usually a list of nouns — "Plumbing. Repairs. Installation." — which tells a customer nothing and matches no search.
What works is specific: "Bathroom fitting from ₹15,000, typically completed in two days, with a one-year guarantee on workmanship." That answers the three questions every customer has — what, how much, how long — and it matches what people actually type into Google.
Every unanswered question on your services page is a phone call the customer makes to somebody else instead.
What pushes the price up legitimately
- Content writing. If you cannot write the five pages, someone must, and that is real work.
- Photography. Real photos of your work outperform stock — but need shooting.
- Multiple languages. Hindi plus English is effectively two sites of content.
- Booking or payment. Any real functionality is a different category of project.
We build exactly this five-page structure for Indian businesses at ₹999/month — hosting, SSL, updates and support included, live within 24 hours, first month free. See example sites.
What each page should actually say
Home
One line stating what you do and where — "Bathroom fitting and emergency plumbing in South Delhi" — then your phone number, then three reasons to choose you. Everything else can wait.
Services
One block per service with a starting price and a realistic timeframe. This page is what matches search queries and answers the questions that otherwise become phone calls you do not get.
About
Years in business, who runs it, a real photograph of a real person. This page converts more than owners expect — it is where a customer decides you are a real business.
Gallery
Eight to twelve photographs of actual work. Fewer good ones beat many mediocre ones. Compress them.
Contact
Phone, WhatsApp, address, embedded map, opening hours. Every one tappable on mobile.
What five pages should NOT include
- A carousel of stock photos of people in suits shaking hands.
- A "Welcome to our website" heading — it wastes your most valuable line.
- A blog with two posts from 2023.
- Auto-playing music or video.
- A contact form as the only way to reach you. Indian customers overwhelmingly prefer to call or WhatsApp.
Timeline for a five-page site
| Route | Realistic timeline |
|---|---|
| Marketplace freelancer | 1–3 weeks, depending on their queue |
| Experienced freelancer | 2–4 weeks with revisions |
| Agency | 4–8 weeks |
| Subscription service | Within 24 hours |
